Dog Rescue – Tea Cup

Tea Cup

Tea Cup is a rescued dog. Abandoned, abused, left behind, we just don’t know exactly what happened. What is known is she needed a place to stay or else she would be euthanized.

Fostering

I foster Tea Cup and what happened on August 14, 2010 is of interest because in this dumb life sometimes good things happen, what I’m about to tell you is one of them.

The Escape

Events are held at the local Petsmarts for the purpose of adoption, the adoption of these rescued pets.

This day we were returning at 2 pm to pick up TC. As I was turning into the parking lot I saw TC running loose near the busy street. I instantly knew she had gotten loose, she was scared and confused.

I also saw a few folks from Petsmart and the adoption center pursuing her, but for a little dog she was extremely fast. It’s understandable under the circumstances. Of course the worry was such a small dog would not be seen in traffic, but to the kindness of several folks who stopped traffic, TC made it across safely.

The problem was she was scared and in an unfamiliar territory, so she was darting around aimlessly and headed for another busy street.

By this time there were at least 20 people helping in the rescue and we had people running down the streets trying to get her. Some folks were in the middle of the street halting traffic, others were tracking TC by car, it almost looked like a manhunt that you would see on TV, with the exception that it was a little 5 lb dog.

Happy Ending

TC was finally found in a gated community, huddled in the backyard of one of the homes.

It was a hot day, 110 degrees, and overall she was in good shape. The only damage she incurred was blistering to the pads on her feet. A few days of pampering and soaking should bring her back to normal.

What Do We Learn

I came a way with the fact that in this crazy, dumb life we live in, sometimes, just sometimes, you see the good side, the side of people unobstructed by all the garbage we get consumed with daily.

If it takes a little 5lb rescue dog to do that, then so be it.

TC used a few of her 9 lives that day (often reserved for cats), but they had a purpose.

Every once in a while we need a little Tea Cup to bring us together, to bring out the goodness and show us, even just for a moment, that there are still good people in this world.

Life sends us signs in many different ways, this particular day Tea Cup reminded us that there is till good in the world.
